Cabbage Stir Fry

This recipe is extremely easy to prepare and makes a great side dish. If you like spice, add a Thai green chili or jalapeño.

Serving Size: ¾ cup

Cook Time: 10 minutes

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons cumin seeds
  • 2 teaspoons freshly grated ginger
  • 2 Thai green chilies or jalapeño peppers, finely chopped (optional)
  • 2 cups shredded green cabbage
  • ¼ teaspoon salt


  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the cumin and grated ginger and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
  2. Add in the Thai green chilies or jalapeño peppers (optional) and sauté for another minute.
  3. Add the cabbage and mix. Lower heat to medium-low and cook for about 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Add the salt once cabbage becomes tender and translucent. Stir and serve.

    We made this at a recent meeting and put it on top of the Mushroom Beef (Turkey) Tacos. We had to make the recipe X4. The only thing we noted was the cumin seeds could have been reduced for that much. It was very good! I liked the coleslaw consistency but some would have sliced the cabbage instead of using the food processor.
